What is a Chamber of Commerce?

A Chamber of Commerce is PEOPLE. It offers a place for all who share in the desire to improve the community and the conditions business is conducted. It directs the energies of those who believe that a community worth living in is a community worth improving.

A Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary membership-driven organization. It unites business, government, and services, creating a central agency that lends itself to improving business and building a better community.

A Chamber of Commerce’s strength lies in attracting the greatest number of individuals and firms into membership, thereby creating a pool of resources that can draw energy, ideas, funding, and establish long-lasting relationships.

A Chamber of Commerce gives direction to the business person’s instincts to improve the market and their community. The successful Chamber is one that recognizes all the factors affecting their community and creates or adjusts its programs accordingly.

A Chamber of Commerce is NOT a department of state government, a political body, a civic club or professional society, a social service, welfare or charitable institution, a private advertising, publicity, or public relations agency.
